Midwifery Assistant & Labor Doula

Credentials: NRP Certified 2024, BLS certification to be completed 2024, Harbor Birth Institute Trained Doula, BS: Bachelor of Science in Biology, pre-med, nationally certified medical laboratory professional at Vanderbilt (ASCP 2014-present)

I have been a labor doula since 2017 and have explored childbirth education. I am a mother to 4 children and the birth experiences I had paired with the birth stories shared with me prior, helped motivate me to become a doula and to evolve as a birth worker.

My inclination has always been towards science and nature. I am fascinated by anatomy & physiology, the homeostasis of life and how questioning the world around us helps us to both grow and promote growth. My original sights for a career were set on a more medical trajectory, but I quickly realized that the parts of functional medicine and healing that I was interested in were not to be found in one category. I never tire of being with mothers and families during the many hours that surround the birth of a child, both before and after. The fact that I am trusted to hold space and to advocate during key pivotal moments is not something I take lightly. I enjoy teaching medical laboratory professionals, but I also would like to move on to assisting during births and eventually midwifery.

When I am not attending births or teaching laboratory science, my family and I can most often be seen at softball parks or attending another sport. My oldest daughters play travel ball, my son plays football and basketball, and my youngest daughter has started to explore soccer. I also enjoy fitness, cooking and being outside!

Hope Post

Midwifery Student, Doula and Midwifery Assistant

My name is Hope and I am a trained birth doula. I live in Nashville, Tennessee and I am a midwifery student with Mercy In Action College of Midwifery where I am working on achieving my goal of becoming a Certified Professional Midwife. I completed my doula training as well as a childbirth course with Blissful Birthing, Pregnancy and Birth Planning.

I am assisting midwives and doing doula work because I am eager to get lots of experience and because I have a heart to serve women. Every woman deserves a compassionate, knowledgeable, and reliable birth team as well as a safe, informed, and loving birth.

After I graduated high school, I became interested in birth work and started learning as much as I could. I talked to midwives and doulas and their passion became my passion. I saw the need for holistic, knowledgeable, reliable, and loving midwives in the community and realized that I could make a difference. My goal is to serve, educate, and empower women so that they can feel confident and capable during their pregnancy and birth.
